Our Story
From the beginning as a teen musician, playing in local bands while opening for national acts in the late 60’s and early 70’s, I became fascinated with the recording process. Our bands recorded in local studios making acetates for demos, and I was totally intrigued and hooked on learning more. After buying my first affordable four-track recorder and spending years experimenting, I was able to build a personal studio in my home which quickly became an in demand project studio. Soon after moving to another home, I took those lessons and built a full-blown professional studio where I have worked, both on and off-site, for close to a decade with a variety of multi-talented people from all genres of the musical world.
Through my association with a number of arts organizations like the Skidmore College Jazz Institute, the Saratoga Chamber Players, the Hudson-Mohawk Chorale and others, I have worked with classical musicians from all over the world and some of our country’s greatest jazz artists. In addition, I have worked with many top local talents assisting them in realizing their recording dreams. While our studio can accommodate full groups of musicians, we also have the capacity to record live performances in any venue with our mobile operation.
My partners and I like to think we can help anyone in capturing their musical vision, whether that is help with writing, arranging, producing or just moral support. There’s comfort in having fellow musicians as your engineers and producers—they understand what you are trying to convey and accomplish better than the pure technicians. Our work comes from not only a place of over twenty years experience since ARP Recording was established, but also from a lifetime of experience as recording musicians.
